The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Laguna Provincial Office, through its Consumer Protection Division (CPD), started the conduct of monitoring of the price and supply of sugar to assure reasonable prices and availability of supplies of sugar in the province.
This effort is in compliance with the memorandum released by DTI Secretary Alfredo E. Pascual on August 19, 2022, to include in the regular monitoring activities the status of compliance of business establishments to the agreement made by President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. with the owners of Robinsons Supermarket, SM Supermarket, Puregold Supermarket, and S&R Membership Shopping to set the retail price of Php70.00 per kilogram for refined white and/or washed sugar until their supplies last. Likewise, CPD checked the purchase limit on refined white and/or washed sugar at 1 kilogram per consumer.
Along with this monitoring of the price and supply of sugar, DTI-Laguna is persistent in validating the compliance of business establishments set for the Safety Seal Certification. Furthermore, they also conduct regular monitoring of basic necessities and prime commodities in the province. DTI-Laguna will continue to intensify its monitoring efforts to ensure better consumer protection in the province.
