Police arrested three Chinese on Friday for alleged kidnapping after their victim, a fellow Chinese, managed to escape in Biñan City, Laguna province.
In a report, Police Col. Harold Depositar, Laguna police chief, identified those arrested only by their aliases “Tan,” “Yang” and “Hui.”
The report did not provide other information about the suspects, except that Tan is a resident of Sta. Cruz, Manila.
Depositar, citing a report from Police Lt. Col. Jonathan Rongavilla, Biñan City police chief, said the kidnap victim, identified only as “Shoroming,” a 29-year-old Chinese woman, was abducted in Pasay City on Monday.
Police said the suspects demanded P1,000,000 and a BMW car from the victim for her freedom.
The victim was held captive in a rented apartment at a subdivision in Barangay Tubigan but managed to escape early Friday and sought help from subdivision residents. The police did not provide other details on how the victim escaped.
After receiving the information, the Biñan police conducted an operation that led to the arrest of Tan and Yang.
Police recovered from Tan and Yang a .22-caliber revolver loaded with five bullets and 35 bullets for a .45-caliber pistol.
Hui was arrested in a follow-up operation in another part of the subdivision.
On Tuesday, three Filipinos working for a Chinese, identified only as “Liang,” were freed in Calauan town by their kidnappers.
According to the three Filipinos, at least six armed men forcibly entered the house of their employer in an upscale subdivision in Muntinlupa City on Monday.
The group then tied and blindfolded Liang, the three Filipinos and five other unidentified Chinese in the house. The victims were then forced into a van, which traveled to Laguna.
